Covid-19 Sickness Reporting Facts
If you are sick with Covid-19, please carefully read and follow the suggestions below. Everything in italics comes directly from Sister Pennie McCoach, the Local 308 Second Vice President.
Brother’s and Sister’s I understand that there may be some misunderstanding when you report being positive for covid or is told to quarantine. Let me provide you with the necessary steps if this occur:
- If you feel sick please stay home.
- Please go and take a rapid or PCR test to get results.
- If your test return positive please notify your administrative manager and provide them with a copy of your positive test.
- CTA is going to ask you a series of questions one being who have you been around. Please be specific when naming individuals don't just say for example the whole AM shift, please provide them with names and don’t let them intimidate you with discipline because you can still catch this virus with your mask on and 6 feet away.
- Then your administrative manager should provide you with a number from benefits.
- Contact Reed and provide them with a copy of your positive test.
- When returning back to work you have to have a negative test when you go to Concentra.
- When following these steps you will be paid Covid pay.
- Now if you have been exposed and told to quarantine by a physician:
- Notify your administrative manager with the necessary information on who you was exposed by.
- Contact Reed with the information of who you was exposed by.
- Once CTA tells you to quarantine you will be compensated Covid pay for the time you are out.
- Hope this information is helpful and if you have any questions please feel free to contact myself or any officer and we will assist you with the issue. Stay safe everyone.
This important message from Sister Pennie reveals the insidious methods of the Blame-The-Worker safety culture
at the CTA.
While we are working two long years without a Contract and suffering all kinds of indignities, we need President Dixon and President Hill to help the members of Local 308 and Local 241 democratically debate and decide plans of action.
