Second Chancers (Bus and Rail): Do not believe the lies about being turned over to Full-Time if you go along with abuse by managers who violate the Second Chance Attachment in our Collective Bargaining Agreement!Your job duties are severely limited. Read the Second Chance Attachment and LEARN for yourself. Yet, for some reason, the CTA has added a whole bunch of duties that are for Full-Time Servicers and Janitors only. This is a total, bald-faced violation! Do not believe you must go along with it in silence!
Some misinformed coworkers may advise you to not report skin burns, peeling and inferior Personal Protective Equipment! "Just keep quiet and you will get Full-Time" some of them say.
No! You will suffer permanent damage to your body and be fired regardless!
When you are injured at work while wearing the PPE they give you, you must report it to a manager. You cannot and should not be punished for it. Some tyrannical managers are trying to do it, but you must demand that myself and other stewards be with you when they try to punish you unjustly!
Invoke your Weingarten Rights and do not allow the manager or union president to illegally deny your choice of which officer or steward you want!
The CTA is not a jail. You will not be punished if you speak up. If you are, you and others—with help from union officers and stewards who care—we can fight and win against the injustice!
Save your life! Save your health! Save your dignity! If you fear retaliation, report it to myself or any other trusted union officer.
The CTA will keep you stringing along for 2 and 3 years, then terminate you! Me and other vocal coworkers have seen it happen, protested about it and demanded at union meetings that we fight against it!
But the reality is: It doesn't matter how hard you work, how good you do your job. After 12 months, that's it! Very few get FT Servicer or Janitor. I have seen good, hard-working people let go!
Unless you see something specific—in writing—you must presume that you WILL be taken advantage of if you remain a Second Chancer after 12 months!
Finally, please text me now at 779-456-6460 with your name and days off. The Vice President of Local 308 and myself want to meet with all Second Chance Rail workers at the union office. Your presence is needed so you can share your story and we can all discuss a plan of action to protect you and your coworkers.
And for the
idiots that run around telling Second Chancers to not listen to my advice, because I
am a "union buster," you are actually a "human buster"! You snakes that spread fear to our coworkers are a Business Union, boss-loving traitor that HIDES under the label of a union member!
