Who is Our Real Enemy?

One of my business unionist coworkers does not like that I criticize him for trying to rat out a coworker that is running for office. The following was on a private Facebook Group for Local 308 Members:

Fight the ideas, the individual!

As shown, frustrated with my tenacity, he resorted to insulting my mother and threatening me. Naturally, coworkers and elected people often take my criticisms of their ideas personally. They think I am questioning their manhood. Some think I am a white man and being racist toward them.

This is nonsense.

As many of my opponents know, I do not fear insults, violence or threats. I confront them. I embrace them. No one can troll me better than me. I am just a piece of trash, hoping to be useful to destroy this wicked world of profits over people.

His response is typical and I do not fault him, as he is a beneficiary of loyalty to the CTA's agent of business for Local 308, President Eric "Out of Order and Run 'em Over" Dixon. Loyalists are often rewarded with perks afforded by our dues money. The ATU "charity" Golf Tournament is one of those perks. All the union presidents I have known behave this way (it is disgraceful).

The ATU has been hijacked by agents of the billionaire bloodsuckers of the poor and their politician tools. It is a fact that ATU members are battling poverty at ever-increasing numbers. Concessionary bargaining has gutted the gains from 100 years of union struggle.

We can no longer tolerate the abuse of our dues money for any other work than educating and inspiring the members to take power from our greedy bosses.

This coworker is NOT the enemy. However, I am a union steward who defends union democracy. A Revolutionary Unionist to the core—a volunteer soldier in the war against Business Unionism. We must check all forms of counter-revolutionary ideas, boss-talk, boss-worship and corruption. I expect others to do it for me as well.

I am anonymizing his part of the conflict to protect his identity. I also do not want his job affected negatively. Eventually, I hope to win him over—and that will be impossible if I destroy him.

Let this be a lesson for you current and future union stewards and officers: We must teach the members and not beat the members. Do not fear officials. Use firm words. Maintain principled stances. Build for revolutionary acts. Be humble. Tell the Truth.
