I Will Not Steal From Local 308

According to Article 3.9(a)(2) of the Pension Code, I will earn an extra 10% per hour during days I am released from the CTA to do union work. 

 

That is immoral and is contrary to Revolutionary Unionism. I will not accept such an arrangement for myself. 

When we all get a raise, I will receive the same when on the Local 308 payroll. No more no less. I know how the CTA bribes officials through extra pension contributions on bloated salaries and kickbacks—all at the expense of the membership.

If I am not allowed to decline it—which I suspect may happen because my actions could upset the corrupt status quo—I will put the money in a specific bank account (or line in my personal budget until I accumulate enough to open a bank account).

That money will only be used for union-related expenses that benefit members. Moreover, I will only spend it upon approval of the members in Rail Maintenance (since I was elected as their Executive Board member). I promise to be accountable for my time and pay in service to you.
