Pay Us For The CTA Rodeo!

UPDATE (12/1/2025): With the exception of myself, Brother Martin and Brother Tom, the Local 308 Executive Board destroyed this grievance (0825-23). It was a travesty. Members have a chance to override their terrible decision on December 9, 2025 at the 6:30 pm membership meeting. Please attend and support yourself and coworkers by voting YES to arbitrate.  

For many years, CTA workers have participated in CTA-sponsored events. None are more significant than the"CTA Jamboree," "Rodeo" (or Roadeo). 

This event has some of the most-skilled workers in ATU bargained for jobs show off their abilities. However, they are not paid for doing their work on this day. 

That is disrespectful.

Although we earn rightfully-deserved attention for our skills, we are also helping the CTA look good for public relations. There is no reason why we should not be paid for doing our work—and doing promotions for our employer—at this event!

Although mine is not the first grievance—nor the last—about this topic, I hope that this one will make them pay attention to their disrespectful conduct. 

Even though I did not include an email message from management about paying workers for the 2024 "Jamboree" I want to put it here for anyone that is curious about this scheme:
