Don't Want an Unpaid Vacation? Get Written Up!

UPDATE (9/12/2026): About 2/3 of the members present refused to override the fake union leadership, despite my reading of the May 5, 2026 memo from the Red Line mismanager who wrote "In the event that an employee does not pick by choice, in person or by telephone, the pick clerk will not pick for the employee. Instead, the employee will be bypassed and must then select his/her vacation, at the conclusion of the vacation pick, from the controls that remain open and available. Be advised that any employee that fails to pick as directed in this correspondence may be subject to disciplinary action for failure to adhere to this written directive." Despite some members' posts on Facebook, I did not make it up.

UPDATE (9/4/2026): My fellow union officials killed this grievance (0526-40). The attack was led by so-called Customer Assistant Cassie Collins. Their argument was that there was no proof that part-timers were written up for not picking an unpaid vacation. I reiterated that if they would READ the grievance, it says they are are being threatened and I attached PROOF of a letter by a mismanager making the threat! Members please show up on Sept. 12 at 10 am and help me overturn their treason!

In the latest blatant human rights violation against the poor Part-Time CTA workers, our lowdown employer has taken to forcing them to take unpaid vacations.

Customer Service Assistants (CSA), Flagmen (FTTF) and possibly more, have contractual rights to pick an unpaid vacation. These are rights. It is not mandated!

Now, under the threat of punishment, the CTA mismanagement is basically forcing them to take 1-2 week(s) off work without pay. Some do not want to miss pay for this fake vacation. Punishing them for not picking it is totally wrong!

Below is a Class Action Grievance I submitted. Hopefully, it won't be trashed at the next Executioner Board Meeting. It appears that they cut out the sources I cited. These so-called union officials I work with are totally pro-CTA mismanagement. So I never know what to expect.
