Members: Take Control of the ATU
The following are resolutions I submitted on March 25, 2022. They were delivered to Local 308 President Eric Dixon by me prior to April 1st as per Section 6.1 in the ATU Constitution.
As he sent me no confirmation—and refuses to respond to my email messages like the insecure union boss he is—I can only assume he obliged and passed them on to the ATU International.
These resolutions do two things:
- Bring light to the anti-democratic corruption and cruel heart of the ATU International President John A. Costa.
- Launch an initiative to put members in charge of nominating and electing our International leadership. The current process is rife with corruption and nothing but a "good ole' boys" network of favors that strangles Union Democracy and fosters Business Unionism.
Without a doubt, such resolutions will be frowned upon at best. At worst, they will enrage IP Costa to show his hand by ratcheting up his stubborn beliefs that he is the boss of the ATU members.
The deaths of hundreds of ATU members is actually his fault because he refused to help the members organize mass strikes throughout the USA and Canada as the Pandemic decimated us. He also continues to allow local union leadership—like those in Chicago—to trample on members' rights while hiding behind the facade of local union autonomy.
