Removing Secrecy at Local 308

Should you nominate me and I win Local 308 president, I will not be your elected boss. You all will be my boss. I will expose any and all other officers who disrespects or sells you out. I reject the union boss “blue wall.”

Keep in mind that I am a Revolutionary Unionist. Not a Business Unionist. There are certain things I will not do willingly such as: I will not be talking nice to our employer and the politicians when they screw us. 

 

I will not sell you a Contract either. Any Agreement between us and the CTA must have arguments for and against it, so YOU can decide what is best. 

 

I will not force feed endorsements of politicians and money scams on the membership. Any endorsements or business ventures must be requested by and voted on by you. 

 

I plan to establish a virtual “union hall” where every single member will have the ability to propose, debate and vote on what we will do from any location. This could be website or whatsapp or something else. It will be a work-in-progress. But I am starting now. 

 

Feel free to offer ideas, suggestions and expertise. Look at my record as an organizer with the Chicago Transit Justice Coalition. On our website are examples of what ATU Local 308 could become—if not better.

 

If this plan means defiance of “The International,” so be it. We need to put control of Local 308 in the hands of the members by any means necessary. We are the union. Never forget that fact. 

 

My intent is to make sure we are communicating as direct as possible. The foundation of virtual meetings and at-least-monthly steward training classes will make it easier to build a truly democratic worker’s organization.
