Proposal Meetings Schedule for the 2024 Contract (Local 308)

It's time to get ready for the Contract (it expires on December 31, 2023). The official Contract Proposal Meetings Schedule was released by Brother President Eric Dixon this week. Of course it was not sent to me. But I did see others post on Facebook and I asked Vice President Mark Weems to send me the original file. 

Please share this information and attend these meetings if you have the time. However, don't go without a plan!

Talk with coworkers and get a list of items you want to see. Also, do not allow the union officials to tell you "it cannot be done." Anything can be done if we organize for persistent rank-and-file action. Also have a plan for action. That is, direct action at work and/or public action on the street. 

Talking will win us nothing. We must fight like a real union to get what we want. 

If you cannot attend, I recommend you submit your proposal items directly to your Executive Board Member, the President and the Vice President. See their contact information at this link.

By the way, there are many, many wonderful proposals on an interactive spreadsheet by the Chicago Transit Justice Coalition. These have been gathered and entered by many coworkers since 2019. They are also being entered into an unofficial Contract. As editor of this project, my intentions are to use this to enter all items from the meetings. It is completely public.

I intend on utilizing this project should I be nominated for and become the Local 308 President. It will make communicating with and organizing the members for action to back our demands—as opposed to just hoping what we wants is considered in secret meetings.
