Stop Messing Around with CTA Worker Seniority!

Union jobs and seniority are unseperable
Dear CTA Mismanagers: When you override seniority while playing fast and loose with the Contract to get workers you prefer into particular jobs or access to overtime, you are playing with fire.

Although this is a common mispractice system-wide (bus and rail), I see you are getting especially sneaky in the Rail Vehicle Maintenance department. Specifically, Rail Excel vacancies. Since I work in that department, I tend to hear the most about such incidents.

I don’t like what I am hearing and seeing. It makes me angry. And you don’t want to see me—and others—livestreaming across the street with a bullhorn at your office window when I am angry.

I am keeping track of reports from coworkers and studying Attachment C and all the slick side agreements you got our presidents to sign off on.

This is a fair warning and a chance for you to cease the various schemes and unfair labor practices. Next will be further corrective action, if it persists.

For your convenience, the Chicago Transit Justice Coalition has a compilation of Attachment C and side agreements regarding overtime, picking and vacancies (see the last four pages). I highly recommend you refer to it before you make a mess that will stir up my frustrated coworkers.
