Uplift Our Suffering Coworkers
This is a touching short film that union stewards and officials should study.
I always perceived Richard Simmons as “weird” when I was growing up. I remember giggling at and seeing his video tapes on shelves in homes of friends and family.
However, as I pass age 50, I find that he was actually exceptional—in a positive way. As one who many call weird, I truly relate.
He possessed a power to turn people’s lives around without exploiting them.
In order to inspire those who are chronically abused, you have reach deep into the joyful part of your soul. Then you have to share that joy without expectation of gratitude or favors. You just got to help people.
As a union steward, that is what you do: Help your coworkers. Defend them unconditionally and never, ever take the side of the bosses who torment them.
