My Election Promises

Keepin' Promises

I have witnessed ATU presidents sell us out and help CTA mismanagement keep us weak since 2018.

After I was elected and immediately put up for false charges by Pennie and Mark, I knew I could never help members take control of Local 308 unless I could win president.

The anger and resentment I feel towards all of them are based in their behavior towards us, our bylaws and our right of freedom of expression. I do not want to become like them. So I have started this list of promises regarding my conduct as a president:

  1. Never take a salary higher than my highest qualified CTA Rail Car Repairer rate at 40 hours per week (Night Premium).
  2. Never silence or ban a member from a meeting because I disagree with them.
  3. Never deny a member union representation of their choice. As long as that steward or officer is willing to help, I will release them from work to do it.
  4. Never break a tied vote that would lead to a member not getting a chance for arbitration or written up.
  5. Never joke about or mock another stewards', officers' or members' spouse or family.
  6. Never sue or call police on a member, officer or steward, no matter what they do or say to me.
  7. Never pose with CTA managers in photos unless I am confronting or protesting against them (but I will not criticize members who are not stewards or officers that do so).

From now through the election, this will be a chronicle of promises I make. Should I fail to uphold them, you can comment below. Also, I wish for you to put charges on me if you believe I have not kept my word. For those who want me removed from office and banned NOW, you can put charges on me as well!

Some ask about my accomplishments and sacrifices as an Executive Board member and Steward:

  1. Printing and distributing Contract and Bylaws books.
  2. Online access to Pick and Seniority sheets.
  3. Informing members through monthly newsletters and officer reports.
  4. Reforming the Second Chance Program by rewriting the Attachment O of the Contract, petition, protests and class action grievances.
  5. Launching persistent class action grievances and complaints regarding abuse of CTA workers by CTA mismanagement.
  6. Submitted numerous Workplace Complaints regarding defecting equipment and deadly working conditions.
  7. Engaged in multiple court cases against CTA mismanagement for union busting.
  8. Won an Unfair Labor Practice charge against CTA mismanagement for union busting.
  9. Wrote hundreds of articles to educate and inspire members to take power at work, in their union and fight CTA mismanagement.
  10. Written up by CTA mismanagers for investigating retaliation by mismanagement against CTA workers.
  11. Written up for protesting about working conditions while off-the-clock.
