No Running Water Is Not Normal!

Blue Line or Disease Line
Thank God, Rosemont Shop and Rosemont Station finally have running water as of September 11th. I do appreciate the cooperation with the Blue Line Maintenance General Manager for responding to my inquiries.

You may not have known, but for the past few weeks the workers at Rosemont Shop and Station have been using portable toilet facilities and gallon bottles of water to clean the trains and wash hands.

It's not normal that Rosemont Shop—or any CTA work location—be without running water for more than a few hours. So what if it happens "ever year." So what if it's the Village of Rosemont's fault? So what if it's the City of Chicago's fault? So what if it's an Act of God? Does that make it acceptable?

A few weeks of no hot water at one of the largest CTA facilities is an absolute atrocity!

The Village of Rosemont, City of Chicago and CTA management needs to get their act together so this continuous breakdown of water supply is permanently repaired!

How the hell can we properly clean the trains and stations without hot water?

Ironically, the Dunkin' Donuts at Rosemont Station was closed because they had no water.

At least the donuts will be safe.

Nothing is going to get better if we keep quiet.

Our union president will NOT share with me your complaints. So make sure you include me or I won't know a damn thing.

I was very disappointed to find out about this issue when I showed up. Someone—anyone—should have called or emailed me. This working condition is a violation of our Collective Bargaining Agreement and many government ordinances.

I have presented plenty of evidence for members to prove that President Pennie is collaborating with CTA mismanagement to keep me in the dark about your suffering. They work together to have me removed from the facilities, from the union office office, jailed and fired. It's not an exaggeration and you members have a duty to fight against it with me.

The excuse that you don't like my personality, face, clothing, approach or whatever is a worn out cop-out excuse. You know I speak up and will defend you—even those of you who collaborate with CTA mismanagement to punish me.

Now, the responsibility is yours: Ignore me, hope I disappear or whatever. But when there is a deadly working condition that could set off a disease outbreak, YOU are supposed to do something about it.

I am doing all I can with virtually NO SUPPORT or resources. So either you get involved on your own, back me up or admit that you don't care if we and the riders get sick and die.
