Cleaning Up the Local 308 Party Mess

It's not a laughing matter, but it is ironic

Ironically, after my plans to attend the Local 308 helliday party were dashed by a nasty cold last night, I received a text message that an incident of violence allegedly occurred.

Without a doubt, our presidents and their peanut gallery are disappointed that they cannot blame me.

Regardless, if this was indeed our union party, a public statement should be drafted, approved by the membership and published by our president.

I suggest it include an apology to the establishment's owner and reimbursement if anything was damaged.

That statement should be posted on the Local 308 website so it can be read and shared by everyone—not just the president's loyalists and friends on Facebook.

At least that is what I would do if I was president

But most likely the root cause will never be known as our leadership handles most controversy just like our irresponsible and inept employer:

  • The affair will ultimately be covered up.
  • A particular demographic will be assigned blame.
  • All the persons involved—right or wrong—will be swept away like trash.
  • Nothing will be addressed about why CTA workers are so stressed out that they self-medicate with drugs and alcohol (just promote the almost useless CTA "Employee Assistance Program" service).
  • Police/security will be hired for the next party (at greater cost to the members).
  • It will be remembered only as gossip in shame and satire.
Below is a screenshot of the location's owner comments about the incident. This was obtained from a Facebook link.
Disturbing, but not unmanageable
