Protect Yourself From Pro-CTA Union Stewards
Since I have already been assigned my prescribed 6 days for union service to members for the month (first time in two years), our president is within her privilege of the bylaws to assign an Assistant Board Member or Steward.
Sister Sharon has continuously proven herself to be a staunch pro-CTA mismanagement ally. Additionally, she lies that we "work together" during her networking outings. We do not work together at all.
Prior to her forays into representing CTA mismanagement, I made numerous attempts to connect with her, register her for my classes and share report. She spurned them all. We have also debated regarding her boss-logic approach towards understanding coworkers.
I have no idea about any cases she works on, even though that is part of my duties as an Executive Board member. All I do know is that she confuses, sells out members and makes mismanagers very happy. She finds excuses not to help and an sometimes lectures them.
Follow these tips if she is present:
- If she is in the office with the manager, ask her to leave and speak with you outside before talking with the manager.
- Tell her that you expect her to fight for you. If she argues, then tell her that you will put ATU Section 22 charges on her.
- In the meeting with the manager, say nothing. Admit nothing.
- If the writeup stands, don't sign it. Ask her to help you write a grievance. If she refuses or won't do it then, just bring the writeup to me and I will help you grieve it.
- After she writes the grievance, don't let her turn it in. Send me a copy to review first.
Good luck and be prepared.
