Class Action Grievance: Stop Scabbing The Rail Janitors (Proposal)

Shop Janitors Class Action Grievance
For many years the CTA mismanagement and their union partners have erased full-time permanent janitor jobs. Back in the 1960's—when this photo of 98th Street Shop was built—it was very different.

The management took pride in clean workplaces and workers who specialized in cleaning the facilities.

Now, they look down on the custodial craft. They say anyone can do it.

It's time for it to stop. Beginning with the Rail Maintenance Shops, they have gotten away with letting the facilities fall into disrepair with smelly, disgusting restrooms, break-rooms and slippery surfaces in our work areas.

The job of a Car Servicer and Car Repairer is on a train. That's it. That is our craft.

Back in 1969
Cleaning anything else is the job of a Janitor.

Do the managers clean the breakroom and bathrooms at CTA headquarters?

Help me create a grievance to set forth a paper trail towards a safer, cleaner CTA. Use this form below to read what I have proposed and offer feedback to make it better.
