Local 308 2023 General Election Results

Sellouts love to lick boots and get favors from CTA mismanagement
Turnout in the election was horrible. Even I did not vote. I sincerely apologize if you voted for me and are offended. However, I have made my reasons public in this video about it.

This is a clear sign that the Local 308 members resent the Amalgamated Transit Union. With the total sellout union response to the Yellow Line crash, I cannot blame members for feeling this way at all.

I feel the same exact way.

Tyrannical boss-worship and top-down, chain-of-command business unionism has drenched us in apathy.

Out of roughly 500 Rail Car Repairers, Servicers and Motor Blowers, I only received 66 votes. Of over 1,000 total Local 308 members, I only received 274 votes for Convention Delegate.

This is absolutely nothing of which to be proud.

We—the Local 308 leadership—have totally failed the membership. Yeah, I wrote we. I am now in with that bunch of persons. However, unlike most of them, I am not a dual unionist member of the Amalgamated Brotherhood of CTA Managers-In-Training Local 308!

The members can no longer be disenfranchised, abused, manipulated, silenced and uninformed by the elected people. Whether they like us or not, we have a job to do: To help them democratically direct the affairs of their union (see the Preamble of the ATU Constitution). Not to kiss axx of mismanagers, side with them or obey other ATU officials. It is to serve the members unconditionally.

Although I am grateful for the votes, I am honestly glad I did not make the cut for Delegate. The ATU Convention was the most expensive, frustrating experience I ever had as a union member.

For me, as Executive Board Member Elect for all the Shops, my work has already begun: Organize and empower the members. When I attend Executive Board meetings, I will be the member's agent. Everything that happens will be shared with them.

Whether you like me or not, please register for my Virtual Union Hall now. This will be how I share what is being done in the name of union. It will be our line of continuous communication—and empower you to democratically guide the decisions I must make on your behalf.

Although my focus is on Shop workers, it is open to all fellow workers at the CTA (union jobs only).
