I’m Sticking With The Members

Eric Basir for ATU Local 308 President
God-willing, I will win the spot of Local 308 president so I can work full-time to help us fight CTA mismanagement—And not have to deal with gray-haired toddlers in polo shirts stopping me.

The plan was to serve you without being president.

However, with TWO suspensions for doing union business on lunch and a day off, an attempt to remove me from office, attacks on my family and punishment of members who support my work, it is clear that our current presidents are hell-bent on having me fired or kxlled.

Since I refused to sip libations in their Pantheon of Mismanagers-in-Training nor bow at the Alter of Business Unionism, our presidents and their loyalists have made it clear: They intend on remaining unaccountable and undemocratic by making an example of me.

Each ATU president I have known are lying, arrogant cowards to varying degrees. Not one is someone I could trust with a dollar bill. The CTA has benefited tremendously from their work.

A real union president is hated and feared by the employer—a menacing guard dog for their lives and jobs.

That simply does not exist at ATU Chicago. They are just like the traitor AFGE presidents who rolled over as President Trxmp stripped federal workers of their union rights

The AFGE weakling misleadership boast about not striking and how their good relationships with management is a healthy way to run a union.

Business unionism in a federal government worker union
Our presidents seek the path of least resistance and send deadly electrical charges right into the ATU members. They remain insulated with their six-digit salaries and drug test-free, hardly-working, lavish lifestyles.

From making photo ops with bosses who fire innocent workers, to waiving human rights in our Contract such as paid sick leave, they do horrible things in public and private. I purposely strive to be the complete opposite of the ATU presidents.

Revolutionary Unionism is a glorious crusade with terrific suffering. The work of liberation is not profitable or pleasant by any means.

It’s pure sacrifice.

You must be cursed by people whose chains you attempt to remove. You must be slandered. You must constantly endure threats of termination, imprisonment and DEATH. No one in authority will like you—NO ONE.

But the SOUL is what drives human progress. When you do the right thing for goodness’ sake, your soul is free from guilt and remorse.

Guilt and remorse feed fear. This thing called fear can make you lose your mind and body. It makes you into a traitor who will sell your own family into slavery.

Alot of hypocrites say “I’m sticking with the union.”

Usually that means they are loyal to elected union people who give them favors.

No, I will stick with the members. They are the union. Without them, we have nothing.

Thank you members for giving me the privilege to work on your behalf. I promise to continue doing all that I possibly can to free ATU Local 308 from CTA control.
